World AIDS Day

Today, December 1st, is World AIDS Day.  It is a day when we remember those we have lost to this deadly disease, and a day when we renew our commitment to those living with, or at risk for, HIV/AIDS.

FACTS ABOUT HIV/AIDS IN TANZANIA (2014)

-NEARLY 2 MILLION PEOPLE LIVING WITH HIV/AIDS

- LAST YEAR MORE THAN 80,000 PEOPLE DIED OF AIDS

- 1.5 MILLION AIDS ORPHANS UNDER 17 YEARS OLD

 and yet...

-FEWER THAN HALF OF INFECTED CHILDREN RECEIVED ANTI-RETROVIRAL DRUGS LAST YEAR

-NEARLY 25,000 NEWBORNS BORN IN 2014 WERE FOUND TO BE HIV+ BECAUSE OF LACK OF PRENATAL SCREENING OF MOTHERS

There is much to do in Tanzania, and throughout the world, if we are to reach the United Nations goal of an end to the spread of HIV/AIDS by 2020.

We hope you will help us help Tanzanians in the fight
of their lives. Please make a donation today.
